The power of gratitude

We tend to think of happiness in terms of fulfilling a wish list. If you think about it, this serves to defer happiness until some tomorrow, when the list is satisfied. Of course, when the list is fulfilled it will be replaced by another, so there is never a time to be happy!

Far better to consciously express gratitude for all that is good in our lives today. This gives us immediate feelings of contentment and abundance. We need to do this from time to time as there is a human tendency to take what we have for granted and usually much more is ‘right’ in our world than we realise.

So, especially when you feel that you have been dealt a ‘bad hand’, make a list of the gifts in your life.

Finally, make it a daily practice to express gratitude to all those who bring joy to your life or who support you in some way.
